Pork Carnitas recipe 🌮

This crispy carnitas recipe is absolutely incredible! It’s surprisingly easy to make, and the flavor will blow you away. You’ll have the most tender, juicy pork carnitas perfect for tacos, burritos, and more.

Ingredients:

3 pounds pork shoulder, cut into chunks
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 bay leaf
1 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons lime juice
Salt and pepper to taste

For Serving:

Small tortillas
Shredded lettuce
Diced tomatoes
Sliced avocados
Fresh cilantro
Lime wedges
Directions:

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven or ovenproof pot over medium-high heat. Add the pork chunks and brown on all sides. Remove the pork and set aside.
In the same pot, add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
Return the pork to the pot and stir in cumin, oregano, paprika, chili powder, and bay leaf. Mix well to coat the pork with the spices.
Add chicken broth and orange juice to the pot, scraping any browned bits from the bottom.
Cover the pot and transfer to the oven. Cook for 3 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
Remove the pot from the oven and shred the pork with two forks. Stir in lime juice and season with salt and pepper to taste.
For crispy carnitas, transfer the shredded pork to a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 5-10 minutes, until the edges are crispy.
