Croque Monsieur 🥪
Ingredients:
8 slices of white bread
4 slices of ham
1 1/2 cups Gruyère cheese, grated
1/2 cup béchamel sauce
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Assemble the Sandwiches:
Spread Dijon mustard on 4 slices of bread. Add a slice of ham and a generous handful of Gruyère cheese to each. Top with the remaining slices of bread.
Toast the Sandwiches:
In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Toast each sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Transfer the sandwiches to the prepared baking sheet.
Add Bechamel and Cheese:
Spread the bechamel sauce over the top of each sandwich and sprinkle with the remaining Gruyère cheese.
Bake:
Place the sandwiches in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve immediately.
