Classic Southern Peach Cobbler

Ingredients:
6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar (for batter)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss to coat evenly and set aside.
In a separate bowl, melt the butter and pour it into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In another bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
Pour the batter over the melted butter, but do not stir.
Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
