Hawaii Loco Moco 🍚🍳
Ingredients:
1 cup white rice
2 cups water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons ketchup
4 large eggs
Salt and pepper to taste
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Directions:
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine rice and water in a rice cooker or saucepan. Cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions or bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until tender.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent.
Stir in the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and cornstarch. Cook for another minute, then add the beef broth and ketchup. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
In a separate skillet, fry the eggs sunny-side up or to your preference.
To serve, place a scoop of rice on each plate, top with the beef mixture, and gently place a fried egg on top. Garnish with sliced green onions.
