Steak Frites
Ingredients:
2 ribeye steaks (8 ounces each)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into thin strips
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the Fries:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.
Toss the potato strips with vegetable oil, paprika (if using), and a pinch of salt. Spread them out in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, turning halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.
Cook the Steaks:
Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot, add the steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer a different level of doneness. Let the steaks rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Prepare the Garlic Butter (optional):
If using, melt a small amount of butter in a pan and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant. Brush the garlic butter over the cooked steaks for extra flavor.
Serve:
Slice the steaks and serve with the crispy fries. Garnish with chopped parsley.
