Ingredients:

4 green plantains
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Salt (to taste)
Optional: garlic powder, black pepper, or other seasonings

Directions:

Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Fry the plantain slices in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden and slightly softened. Remove them from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
Using a plantain press or the bottom of a glass, gently flatten each fried plantain slice to about 1/4 inch thick.
Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for 1-2 minutes per side, or until they are crispy and golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Season immediately with salt and any other desired seasonings.
